Subject: Required Parameter Settings for PFFW-SS2-001 Installation

Product: NWP500 Heat Pump Water Heater & ComfortCirc Recirculation Pump

Overview

Following the recent launch of the NWP500 Heat Pump Water Heater, our Quality Assurance team has identified a recurring trend regarding the ComfortCirc Recirculation Pump (PFFW-SS2-001). Reports suggest that some installations are not seeing an improvement in hot water delivery times, leading to a misconception that the pump hardware is defective.

The hardware is functioning as intended. In nearly all reported cases, the issue is related to the control panel configuration. The ComfortCirc pump is not "plug-and-play"; it requires manual parameter adjustment within the NWP500 interface to activate and optimize the recirculation logic.

Critical Installation Steps

To ensure proper operation, contractors must access the Installer Menu on the NWP500 control panel and configure Parameters #3 through #8. Without these settings, the pump will not respond correctly to the system's demands.

Key Focus: Parameter #8 (Fixture Distance)

The most common cause of "short-cycling" or early pump termination is an incorrect setting for the plumbing run distance.

  • Default Setting: 30 feet

  • Requirement: This value must be adjusted to reflect the actual length of the plumbing run from the water heater to the furthest fixture.

  • Impact: If the distance is set shorter than the actual run, the pump may shut down before hot water reaches the fixture, resulting in delayed delivery times.
