Introduction:
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide supplemental instructions for wiring the Multi Position
Air Handling Unit (MPAHU) electric heater kit. For instructions on installing the electric heater
kit, reference “Product Bulletin - Integral Electric Heat Kit”.

Electric Heater Kit Installation Instructions:
1. Turn off power to unit and
2. Remove blower access door. (Top front panel in the up-flow position)
3. Remove heater element cover plate and discard. Keep the screws for heater kit installation.

4. Mount the heater kit through the opening with 4 screws retained in step 3.
5. Connect high voltage power wiring as below.
a. Field provide and install electric heater disconnecting means within 3.0 ft of indoor unit.
b. Connect high voltage field power leads to electric heater terminal block, disconnect
switch, or breaker.
c. Red and black power pigtails at supplied breaker, disconnect, or terminal block are NOT
used. These wires must be permanently removed.
d. Connect field wiring ground lead to ground lug on the bulkhead or the one on the
heater kit.
6. Remove the control box cover, plug the 4-pin plug from the heater kit to the control board
connector CN67, run wires through the control box knockout. Replace control box cover.

7. Skip to Step 9 if using a non-breaker version. Remove necessary knockouts on blower door
to accommodate breakers on heater kits. For horizontal right application, the breaker must
be repositioned, reference “Product Bulletin - Integral Electric Heat Kit”.
8. Follow the procedure below to place the circuit breaker cover to the blower access door:
Clean the surface with Alcohol. The surface must be clean, dry, and free of grease and oil for
establishing a good bonding. Peel off the release paper on the back of the circuit breaker
cover. Center the breaker cover in relation to the knock out. Align the top of the cover to
the top of the access door. Firmly press the breaker cover on to the access door for 30
seconds.
9. Replace the blower access door. Making sure that the circuit breaker is aligned evenly with
the knock out on the access door.
10. Verify the proper control wiring per electric heater control circuit.
11. Restore power and verify unit operation.
