Fujitsu UV Light Use

Subject: Ultraviolet Light Use with Airstage Systems

Introduction:
In recent years, Ultraviolet lamp popularity has increased with an emphasis on UVC germicidal disinfection. UV
lamps are commonly installed in ducting, or directly in the air handling unit to direct the UV rays at the indoor coil
surface area.

Fujitsu General America has not evaluated the effectiveness of 3rd party UV lighting due to the construction of
Airstage air handling units, therefore we cannot recommend their application, installation or use. Photochemical
effects of UVC on the plastic structure can lead to degradation due to the proximity of the UV lights. Potential
damage could include, but is not limited to, the cabinetry, fan blade and electrical wiring.

Conclusion:
Installation and operation of 3rd party UV lamps and other forms of UV lighting in Fujitsu Airstage HVAC systems is
performed at the discretion of the contractor and equipment owner; thus, assume all liability and risk associated
with their use.
