Subject: Snow Hood Use for Halcyon and Airstage Outdoor Units
 

Introduction
This Bulletin describes use of the UTZ-DUSH**A series Snow Hoods for Halcyon and Airstage outdoor units.
Installation of the Fujitsu Snow Hood accessory can mitigate negative affects of snow and snow drifts to help
stabilize system operation, and help prevent potential damage to the unit from accumulations on the fan blade(s)
and unit interior.

Application: Low ambient heating operation- While snow hoods provide additional unit protection, their use does not extend low ambient operation capacity ratings. Both heating and cooling capacities, as provided within the Design & Technical Manuals or Design Simulator software are not affected. Sound– Published dB(A) ratings for sound pressure are not affected, however operational sound levels may deviate from rated values when snow hoods are installed. Unit clearances– Required minimum outdoor unit clearances, prescribed in the Installation Manual or Design & Technical Manual are to be increased 1.5 times (150%) with snow hood use, referenced from the snow hood edge. Unit side and rear minimum clearances may need to be increased greater than a factor of 1.5 in order to accommodate hood installation.
