Compressor Temperature Error Troubleshooting Checklist
Cooling Operation:
Check of 3-way valve (gas side) was closed, open the 3-way valve and check operation.
Should that not solve the error, check if the EEV (electronic expansion valve) is defective.
Conduct a strainer check to see if the strainer is clogged. The strainer does not have temperature difference between the inlet and outlet. If there is a temperature difference as shown in figure 2, there is a possibility the strainer is clogged and would need replacing.
Inspect the condenser fan motor to see if motor spins freely with little to no resistance. If no problems are found, proceed to ohm the motor windings. If windings are not within range, motor must be replaced.
If fan ohms correctly, check the resistance of the Compressor Thermistor by ohming it out. See attached Thermistor Resistance Chart.
If above does not rectify the system of the error proceed to leak checking the system.
Heating Operation:
Check of 3-way valve (liquid side) was closed, open the 3-way valve and check operation.
Proceed to checks 4-6 of Cooling Operation checklist to continue.
See "how to" videos below for doing the EEV, Fan Motor, and Thermistor Checks.
