Setting Up Pelican Wireless Site Without Internet On Site

If you are in the construction phase of a pelican project but you would at least like to see if everything is going to communicate and possibly put all the thermostats on a construction schedule, then I have the solution for you....

Items Needed:

1. Cell Phone W/Hotspot Capability

2. Laptop Computer That Has An Ethernet Port

3. The Gateway Plugged In To Its Approximate Location

4. All Thermostats Hooked Up and Powered.

Step 1:

Plug in gateway to wall

Step 2:

Plug in ethernet cable into gateway and your computer.

Step 3:

Start up your hotspot on your phone and connect your laptop

Step 4:

Go to Network Connections Settings

Step 5:

Right click on the ethernet connection and hit properties.

Step 6: At the top of the screen hit sharing and select to allow the connection to use your computers internet connection.

Step 7: Close out of the windows

Now in a minute you should see your gateway go solid on both lights.

Now either using the laptop or someone else's phone setup the site like you normally would. Identify all thermostats and add repeaters where needed. Create a construction schedule or change the range that the thermostats can function.  After you have written all settings to thermostats, disconnect the ethernet cable from your computer. Leave the gateway powered and on. When internet gets installed, simply hook the ethernet cable back up and you now have remote control again.
