Before applying power to the boiler, we want to review the piping and venting components to ensure they are correct.

Next we want to make sure the electrical connections are correct for the application. If using an indirect water heater follow step 14. Depending on whether you would like to use a fixed heating temperature or would like to use an outdoor reset curve, you will follow either step 15 or 16. ***DO NOT apply 24v from the thermostat to terminals 5 and 6. This is a dry contact switch to give the boiler a heat call (TT signal).

Once all piping, venting, and electrical connections are verified you can turn the gas on and purge the air from the hydronic piping if you haven't already. The boiler will use a purging feature during commissioning so don't worry about getting all of the air out at this time. Go ahead and turn the power on to the boiler and we will begin the commissioning.

You have two options when commissioning; doing it through the ViGuide app or using the screen (HMI) on the boiler. The app allows you to save your installs and print a commissioning report at the end, which is nice for project tracking and future servicing. You don't need to use the app but it is highly recommended and makes the commissioning easier. For now we will focus on commissioning using the boiler screen.

Always select "more" or "advanced" configuration settings as this is where we will truly set-up the boiler.

This will get the boiler up and running and no further configuration should be necessary in almost all installations. If you do need more configuration please refer to the installation guide and/or contact Viessmann tech support at 844-649-5886.

Occasionally you will incur fault codes on start-up and check out due to missed step on install. See chart below for common codes given on start-up, or call/text the above tech support number if further issues arise.
