I have gotten a couple of requests for trying to protect coils in some harsh environments. The best way to do this is to have the manufacture produce the product with a coil protectant. That way the coil is professionally applied. The problem is that we have equipment that the option for a coil like that is not available.

Protecting Coils in Harsh Environments

When it comes to protecting HVAC coils in challenging environments, the best solution is to have the manufacturer apply a professional coil protectant during production. Factory-applied coatings ensure even coverage and lasting protection. However, this option isn't always available for certain equipment models.

DuraCoil: A Reliable Field Solution

For equipment that doesn’t come with factory-coated coils, DuraCoil by Nu-Calgon offers an effective alternative.

Product Details:

  • Part Number: 4083-91 (Aerosol Spray)

  • Application: Simply spray the coil surface and allow it to dry properly.

  • Maintenance: Reapply every 6 to 12 months, depending on environmental severity.

Why Use DuraCoil?

DuraCoil is a specially formulated, air-dry phenolic coating designed to extend the life of HVACR coils and components in corrosive environments. This gray-colored coating has been field-tested and used successfully by OEMs for years.

Ideal Applications:

  • Coastal regions (exposed to salt air)

  • Industrial or agricultural settings (exposed to chemicals or dust)

  • Refrigeration systems (protection from food acids)

  • New installations without factory-applied coatings

  • Repairing damaged protective coatings on existing equipment

By using DuraCoil, contractors can effectively protect coils from corrosion, improve system longevity, and reduce costly maintenance issues in harsh environments.
