If you have a compressor that is noisy then you may have some issues.
Here are some typical things that happen on startup of a compressor that may cause noise issues.
- Liquid Slugging- liquid refrigerant in the compressor
- Washing- liquid refrigerant foams the oil and then washed the bearings then lack of lubricant causes damage.
- Wrong Charge
- Service valves not open
If you are experiencing noise issues after install, then look for the following.
- Liquid Slugging- verify metering device and superheat.
- Electrical issue
- Cold Starts- needs to have a crankcase heater.
- Oil return issues- verify traps or potentially areas that need them
If the compressor is grinding then there may have been mechanical damage to it. Consider compressor replacement.
