Flushing Refrigeration Systems: When and Why It’s Necessary

Contaminants can significantly reduce the lifespan of a refrigeration or HVAC system. Proper system flushing helps remove harmful residues, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

When to Flush a System:

After a compressor burnout or replacement – Prevents acid and debris from damaging the new compressor.
When retrofitting to a new refrigerant – Ensures compatibility and prevents chemical reactions.
When reusing existing line sets or coils – Removes residual oil and contaminants.
For new construction – If lines were installed early and left uncapped, they may have accumulated moisture or debris.
After brazing – Eliminates copper oxide that forms during the process.

Recommended Solution:

Rx11-Flush by Nu-Calgon is a highly effective option for flushing refrigerant systems, helping to remove acid, sludge, and particulates to maintain system integrity.

An even better option would be the hilmore plug gun kit. This uses a neoprene plug and shoots through the copper acting as a squeegee. So Rx-11 and this will do well
