With the R32 units coming out from Fujitsu, we need to be aware that the Ducted units do have the LDS built in to the unit. The unit will come with the LDS enabled, but you will have to set the fan to run during a call for mitigation IF the space requires it. Remember to look at chart in the install manual. Below you will find function code 81 and then you will find the minimum area for leak
Function 81 – Safety Measures for Refrigerant Leakage
This setting determines the indoor unit’s response in the event of a refrigerant leak.
| Function No. | Setting Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 81 | 00 | No safety measures (Default) ♦ |
| 01 | Enable air circulation safety mode |
Setting Description:
To enable safety measures in the event of a refrigerant leak, set Function 81 to “01” (Air Circulation).
When set to 01, the indoor unit will respond as follows upon detecting refrigerant leakage or a refrigerant sensor failure:
-
The indoor fan runs at high speed to help diffuse leaked refrigerant, in compliance with UL60335-2-40 safety standards.
-
Cooling and heating operations are disabled. Forced cooling is also not permitted during this state.
-
The remote controller cannot override or stop the fan operation during this safety response.
-
The system will display error code 45 or A8 on the indoor unit or remote controller to indicate refrigerant leak detection or sensor failure.

Safety Notes and Installation Requirements
-
The appliance shall not be installed in an unventilated space if that space is smaller than the minimum installation area.
-
The installation height is the minimum installation height, which refers to the lowest point of either ductwork outlets or the indoor unit—whichever is lower. The minimum installation areas in the table below are based on an installation height of 5.9 ft (1.8 m).
-
If the ducted air conditioner serves more than one room, apply the minimum installation area from the table to the smallest room.
-
If the desired installation height is less than 5.9 ft (1.8 m), the minimum installation area must be recalculated.
-
When the safety measure is enabled, the safety measure-compatible installation area will apply.
-
For more information about safety measure settings, refer to “FUNCTION SETTING.”

Additional Installation Guidelines
-
Ducts connected to this product shall not contain any ignition sources, such as hot surfaces, open flames, or current-carrying devices that may arc or spark.
-
When connecting the indoor unit to multiple rooms via ductwork:
-
Supply and return air must be directly ducted into each room.
-
Open spaces such as false ceilings must not be used as a return air path.
-
-
If auxiliary devices are installed in the ductwork, they must be certified for use with R32 refrigerant.
